      FMG is the hub of gas turbines. Looked after the maintenance and upkeep of machinery fitted onboard ships particularly Gas Turbines through RCM techniques while ensuring timely forecasting and availability of Spares and Expertise. Vibration Analysis, Endoscopic Inspections, Infrared Thermography, Field Oil Analysis, Motor Current Analysis and Ultrasonic techniques were employed on regular basis. Also incharge of installation/removal, partial stripping and buildup of gas turbines ( i.e Olympus, Tyne and Astazou) team.Training on propulsion Gas Turbines from M/s Rolls Royce, UK and on Main Propulsion Machinery from Devonport Management Limited (DML), Plymouth, UK was a unique experience, being one of the very few engineers in Pakistan Navy with such qualification.       Managed the completion of shipbuilding projects amounting to US$ 20 Million and above from conceptual to the completion stage.This senior management position demanded contract management, formulation of strategies, detailed planning, monitoring, controlling and coordinating all ship construction activities while ensuring laid down shipbuilding and quality assurance/ control standards both inland (i.e KS&EW) and abroad (i.e M/s Marson Thailand, Yonca-Onuk JV at Istanbul, Turkey & CSOC Shanghai, China). Projects included small, medium size and large marine platforms of steel ranging from 220 tons to 3000 tons and vessels of composite materials ranging from 10 tons to 110 tons. During the service life of machinery/equipment monitored failures, developed and evaluated proposed modifications and repair schemes, and supervised and evaluated equipment trials. To assist in these tasks had access to external organizations and liaised closely with civilian counterparts.Heavily involved with resource management, assigning and scheduling personnel, assets, equipment and finances to the task at hand. Responsible for providing total engineering solutions and shore support to naval ships and crafts for defect diagnosis/ evaluation, maintenance, repair/ rebuild and to maintain Keep Alive regime onboard ships. The department has approx 1000 plus personnel including qualified engineers of all specializations and about 15 engineering work centers.Played a key role in development of technical infrastructure to support port services including upkeep of Fender system and Navigational aids of channel. Complete recovery and operations of ICCP system ( Impressed current cathodic protection), installed to protect ships as well as Jetties/piers. Responsible for supply chain management of Fuel farm of HSDO / Aviation Fuel and maintenance of fuel filtration system, fuel pumping station and fire fighting system. Activated and operated 3.7 MW Power House (Perkins Diesel Engines 750 KW x 5). Also managed 11 KV power distribution system along with its ancillaries (i.e. substations, switchboards, bus bars, transformers etc.). Show less
