As a First Lieutenant I took command of a unit in bad shape...terrible maintenance and training programs in place and poor morale. Two days after assuming command we had the inspection which we failed. As usually happens we were told to expect a re-inspection within 60 days...at 55 days the IG returned and we passed with honor as a result of my direction and guidance to the troops.
