    • UNIVERSITY ENTERPRISES CORPORATION AT CSUSB

      Oct 2013 - now
      Director of Research & Development

I manage the day-to-day operations and the long-term vision of all cybersecurity grant projects within the Research & Development Division of the Cybersecurity Center at California State University, San Bernardino. The projects include the NICE Challenge Project (nice-challenge.com), CAE Community Website (caecommunity.org), and the INSuREHub (insurehub.org).The NICE Challenge Project provides cybersecurity workforce experiences to students and educators. The content it provides is task-sized challenges, steeped in real-world context, and within full-scale business networks. These challenges are inspired by the rich layers of the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (i.e., NIST SP800-181) and are mapped directly to the Work Roles, Tasks, and KSA. To enable the availability of the challenges and draw out powerful analytics from them, the project developed a web platform built atop its own virtualized infrastructure. Multiple US federal agencies fund this project. The Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) Community Website and INSuREHub are the two other core projects that I manage. The first is primarily a website for the CAE Community to share, and distribute information relevant to the community. INSuREHub is a sizeable collaborative web application specifically configured and automated for the INSuRE Cybersecurity Research program. Both of these projects are by US federal agencies. As the division director, I hire and manage multiple cross-functional DevOps teams and do the project risk assessment, budgeting, forecasting, and R&D dissemination. In addition to my management role, I also act as a principal engineer for all projects within my division. I am directly involved in designing technical solutions and secure implementation plans.
