    • Total Facilities Management Company (Pty) Ltd

      Jul 2001 - Aug 2006
      Leasing specialist

Responsible for leasing, letting & sub-letting, new retail roll outs, property portfolio budgeting and general real estate management throughout Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Orange Free State, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Western Cape.Worked closely with accountants, facilities managers, optimisation specialists and project managers to ensure that there is a clear distinction between landlord & tenant responsibilities relating to FM matters, proper asset management principles are applied (i.t.o. life cycle planning, maintenance plans etc.) and the entire real estate life cycle is well managed from acquisition, through management to disposal. The TFMC property portfolio was split into 7 regions. During my first two years with TFMC, I managed the Gauteng, Northern, Southern & North Eastern portfolios. I was then relocated to Cape Town to establish a regional presence for this division. This part of the portfolio consisted of around 1 000 properties. It is during this period that Telkom embarked on a rebranding exercise for their retail outlets, moving from a service kiosk to a fully-fledged electronic equipment outlet focussing on the higher income individual (Telkom direct). Conducted market research, identified gaps in the current portfolio catchment areas and target markets. Aligned this with the new strategy, and developed a road map for market alignment and penetration throughout the Western Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State. The road map was approved and I then implemented it by securing new retail premises, relocating expiring leases, terminating non-aligned leases and being part of the project management team that was responsible for the shop fitting of the premises.
