      Aug 1998 - Jan 2009
      Finance

I worked primarily in the FICC Finance Division as a controller supporting various Fixed Income businesses in Rates, Credit, Mortgage and ABS space. I led controllers’ effort to integrate Goldman Sachs Bank USA ($25 billion state chartered bank) into firm’s overall infrastructure. The bank was a strategic part of the firm’s private banking and funding initiatives. This role included reviewing new business ideas with bank management and performing due diligence from controllers’ perspective to assess feasibility. I performed accounting/reporting gap analysis, reviewed system integration plans, coordinated with regulatory controllers to identify call reporting requirements, etc. I managed a team that monitored the bank's $12 billion investment portfolio which consisted of agency and non-agency RMBS (including subprime, Alt A, and option ARM products) and private lending books, totaling $4 billion in loans and commitments, to private wealth management clients.Previously I managed finance teams responsible for mortgage liquid products (agency MBS pass-throughs, CMM swaps, and mortgage options), CMO/prime residential, CMBS/ABS, and the structured CDO/CLO securitization desks. I supervised product control functions, which included management reporting (balance sheet and revenue); transaction and securitization accounting policy review and issue resolution; new products review; price verification procedures; preparation of financial statement disclosures; establishing internal controls; providing financial information and guidance to business and finance senior management, various internal departments and external auditors; and maintaining a strong relationship with the trading desk. I coordinated various infrastructure enhancement projects involving pricing, risk and operational workflows and supervised the establishment of reporting, modeling, valuation, reserve, and control policies and procedures for the synthetic CDO and mortgage backed CDS businesses.
