      A senior member of staff, all of whom were psychoanalysts or candidates at the Institute of Psycho-Analysis. The Portman Clinic is a specialist psychoanalytic psychotherapy clinic, working exclusively with children, adolescents and adults suffering from perversions or delinquency. I carried out diagnostic assessments and treated six to eight patients on a once or twice a week basis. The range of patients treated included individuals who were violent, actively sado-masochistic, transsexuals, cross dressers, murderers, pedophiles, con men, thieves, nappy wearers, delinquents etc. The ages of patients I treated ranged from 4 years old to 82 years old. I was a member of the Pedophile and Incest Abuser Workshop, The Adolescent Workshop, The HIV Workshop and the Consultation Committee.From 1995-1996 I was Chair of the, Joint Tavistock and Portman Clinics, Scientific Committee. I was course tutor and taught on a two-year course on treatment of acting out adolescents, attended by consultant child psychiatrists, senior registrars, psychotherapists, clinical psychologists and psychiatric social workers.I also taught and supervised on the two year Diploma Course in Forensic Psychotherapy sponsored jointly by the Portman Clinic and University College London, School of Medicine, University of London.Additionally I worked as part of the Consultation Committee. This committee consulted to departments of psychiatry, child Psychiatry, child and adult residential treatment facilities, psychiatric Hospitals, departments of social services. As a member of this committee I taught courses on working with different population groups and how to deal with staff stresses and counter-transference difficulties. I as well carried out court reports on forensic cases and child custody and visitation matters. Show less
