  I spent a year out between school and starting my degree. I spent some time data processing order for the shop floor and also chasing special projects through the factory. My first experience of the real world of work. I also did a couple of periods of work during my holidays from University circa 1993.

  Engineering Analyst

  • Structural analysis of proprietary scaffold systems and data sheet production: • Created parametric 3D model of structure in ANSYS to determine capacity of system. The model formed an integral part of the design process for a new scaffold system under development. • Wrote a Visual Basic ‘front end’ to adapt the same basic model for other systems, load cases, bracing options and other design options. • Performed analysis in accordance with applicable British and European Standards.   Engineering Analyst

  I started with IDAC (now CADFEM UK) in May 2002 to do the support and training role detailed above. In October 2002 IsCubed was formed out of IDAC to do the support function and I moved to that new company. In early 2004 I took over the day to day running of the Helpdesk to make sure calls and emails were handled and logged. This allowed the MD to focus his time on running the company. At the end of 2007 we became part of ANSYS.

  Jan 2008 - now

  Promoted to Senior Manager reflecting my wider responsibility at a more global level. Following an internal re-organisation my role has changed from managing a Technical Support Team to looking after a Field Engineering Team. This new team will deal with all customer facing functions - pre-sales, support, training and consult. They will also contribute to internal projects to make ANSYS the best in-class software. The team will be spread across the UK, Germany and Israel. Running a team of up to 10 engineers across Europe for mainly technical support to existing clients with a bias towards the Mechanical product in the ANSYS portfolioProviding leadership and mentoring to each of those. Continuing to perform the functions described as below. Provided first line support to the UK customer based for the ANSYS Mechanical product line across both MAPDL and Workbench platform. Developed expertise in areas such as contact, non-linear and linear dynamics. Delivered numerous training course across all ANSYS offices and at various customer sites for the above products.Provided assistance to various sales and marketing led events.
