    • NC State Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

      May 2022 - Apr 2023
      Undergraduate Researcher - Dickey Group

Designed and implemented automated instrumentation for the electrical characterization of Gallium-based liquid metals. LabVIEW used for system control and data collection.Developed a research methodology to analyze data sets from large-scale experiments using Microsoft Excel.Gained experience with system-level design, PID configuration, and electrical characterization techniques, including 4-point probe, impedance spectroscopy, and the transfer length method.

    • NC State Electrical & Computer Engineering

      May 2023 - now
      Undergraduate Researcher - Ricketts Group

Designed a 6-channel musical Tesla coil controller, including a custom PCB to drive fiber optic transmitters. Interfaced board with TI Launchpad microcontroller to allow for simultaneous coil control via MIDI input.Designed PCB for a plasma toroid 10 MHz class-E oscillator circuit for use in EM demos. Tuned resonant components using LCR meter to achieve optimum performance.Constructed and tuned Tesla coil subsystems including an LC tank, buck converter, gate driver, full bridge, and DRSSTC driver with current transformer feedback. Developed experiments for a lecture given at the Royal Institution in London, England. Demonstratons followed the history of high-voltage science, beginning with the discovery of electric charge and ending with a Tesla coil orchestra. Several other historical demos were also replicated, including Lord Kelvin's Water Dropper and Gassiot's Cascade.Assisted with an INTERACTRF workshop in which students learned the basic principles of modern radio systems, such as carrier signals and modulation techniques, and then constructed their own AM recievers.Assisting in the development of an augmented reality (AR) approach for teaching and learning electromagnetic concepts. Responsible for user testing and feedback.Awarded research funding for Summer 2023 under an NSF-sponsored REU. Show less
