  Combat Engineer

  I was part of North Carolina Army National Guard attached to the 883rd Combat Engineer Company. During my time in the army I had two jobs. Combat engineer and mechanic/recovery. I was sent off to specialize in driving a variety of military vehicles and finding bombs equipment . I deploy to Afghanistan in September of 2011. This is we’re I was cross trained as mechanic/recovery for my platoon. They need a person who could turn a wrench and drive a 18wheeler. My jobs over there was to find I.E.Ds/H.M.E (Bombs) and to recover/repair any trucks that got blew up, stuck or just regular maintenance in are platoon arsenal. After deployment, I was sent to a Fort Bliss to train soldiers about to deploy to Afghanistan in the Talibans TTPs. Once finally back i was award the wheels badge, combat action badge, Purple Heart and a few other awards during my time over there.   When I started working at averitt I was a part-time switcher. Moved trailer around the yard. I did that for 4 months and was promoted to dock associate. My job then was to unload and load trailer coming in and going out. After for a few months I was giving the task of making sure a certain number of trucks made there cut times. Which meant going and finding trucks that needed to be load with certain items and was ready to go by there cut time. After that I was promoted to management as a freight clerk. This job involved a lot of what a load out man did on the dock but instead of loading the trailers I had to organize what went in the trailer, what needed to be on it and what could wait. Also I had to do that for all the cut times instead of a few. Show less

  Fleet Manager

  I work as a fleet manager for Impact System. My job includes a variety of task. I do all the repairs to the tires, lights, brakes, and any other non warranty problems the vans may have. If something is covered under warranty I make sure it makes it to the proper dealership to be repaired. I handle ordering and receiving of new vans. That being branded vans or rentals vans. I also make sure all the phones are set up for the drivers. I also get the phones repaired when needed and replace phones when they are bad. Any supplies that the office, myself or the ops managers are in of i order and get them. Lastly, I have been with the company since it started. I know how is is run and if the operation managers can’t figure or get something to work I have to step in. Show less
