Collectively, the team has been recognised for their hard work and dedication to helping people safely through the floods across Victoria in October 2022 which impacted over 170,000 customers.The floods created widespread disruption, safety risks, damage to assets and access issues. The team’s response saw:Over 300 Powercor staff deployedOver 20 generator sets sent to support impacted communities, including overcoming significant challenges like a lack of diesel supply and the location of flood watersHelicopters, drones and boats performing reconnaissance exercises as well as getting key people to flooded areasEmergency management teams working closely with Emergency Management Victoria, emergency services and other state and local groupsRestoration of power to priority places including communication towers, sewerage facilities and refuge centresCommunication with customers to guide them through a very challenging and uncertain situation.
