Supervisor: Philippe Collon.- Researched, designed, built, tested and analysed a new Ionisation Detector for the Accelerator Mass Spectrometry group beam line.- Headed the project researching Physics Theory behind the detector, so as to maximise performance, using Quantum effects of ions travelling through gas chambers to separate target.- Designed to observe the crossover of 93Zr and 93Nb using high energy resolution measurement of their - Bragg curves where 93Zr in samples was postulated to be a marker for supernovae events.- Tested and analysed with Iron and Zirconium beams, using knowledge of the Physics inside the detector to tailor its performance. Analysis on theory carried out to improve the detector.- Anode signals worked: separation for 58Fe and 58Ni seen. Show less
