      As Director of Membership, responsibilities included advocacy, business development and direct engagement with member businesses to maximize membership investment. Within a year was promoted to manage the JACC Member Services Team responsible for over 1100 chamber members, events, programs and projects. In May 2011, Joplin was struck by an EF5 tornado that destroyed one-third of the city including impacting over 500 businesses. Post-disaster recovery efforts included acting as primary point of contact for affected businesses and provided guidance to available resources for rebuilding through the Small Business Administration, State of Missouri and Federal Emergency Management Administration. Acted as primary project lead by the City of Joplin to oversee commercial debris removal within the damage corridor. Created new and innovative programs to assist the business community recovery including the “Business Recovery Expo” and “Green Ribbon” program to recognize and encourage the rebuilding of the over 550 businesses damaged or destroyed by the tornado.       Recruited to join a temporary opportunity for the newly established Joplin, Missouri selected Master Developer in the post-disaster redevelopment project for the City of Joplin following the 2011 EF5 tornado, the 8th worst tornado in U.S. history. Responsibilities included the creation and coordination redevelopment efforts related to policy/procedures, community engagement, media relations, public input, events and community development. Created the business plan for the Joplin Redevelopment Corporation (353 urban redevelopment corporation) to act as land bank for redevelopment sites. Developed all media publications, Joplin City Council presentations, policy/procedures documentation and visual materials to communicate the complex process of public/private partnerships in redevelopment. Worked with commercial brokers and investors on potential multi-use projects as well as coordinated efforts in tandem with city staff to establish the largest TIF district in the state of Missouri. After being offered a permanent position in late 2014, relocated to Houston in January 2015. Show less
