In this role, I served as a team member on the mental health specialty court, sorted through and set aside thousands of convictions pursuant to the Michigan Clean Slate Act, and gained a thorough understanding of the court’s process.

Through this experience, I often collaborated with fellow students, volunteers, and staff, helping me to develoep strong problem-solving, communication, and client service skills.   In this clinic, my partner and I served as guardian ad litems to represent the best interests of children involved in custody matters before Michigan Circuit Court judges. In this role we thoroughly investigated the case, applied statutory criteria to formulate written recommendations, defended that report in a live hearing, and facilitated settlement negotiations.
