I stepped into the operations manager role with an eye toward growing ARC. Currently, I’m organizing and updating safety protocol, managing the incentive program for our team, and meeting customers and clients about Professional, Retail, and Hospitality builds. ARC has built a strong reputation on commercial builds, strip development, and hospitality projects. Several projects we’ve done really stand out as stellar representations of what we do. Verdigris Bar, which has one of the most beautiful interiors I’ve ever seen, Paradise Diner, Newport Grill in Prairie Fire, and YaYa’s Euro Bistro are great spaces that show off the clean, bright finishes that we are known for. Recently, we also completed B-Street Collision Center—with large paint booths and other automotive industrial finishes, this was a really fun, challenging, and technical project that showcases ARC at its best. Show less Before I became a superintendent, I spent a year as a laborer, which was a real trial by fire. I may not have known a lot going in, but I spent a lot of time asking questions. I learned a lot and was willing to put effort into my work. I learned how efficient I can be with my hands—carpentry, concrete work—as well as do the finer points of trim and finishes. I asked a lot of questions that gave me broader knowledge of contracting. When I became a superintendent, my first project was a little rough, but I learned so much. I learned how to coordinate, motivate my team, rearrange and plan schedules, working together for common goal. Really, I learned that there’s more than just the physical work of putting a project together—it’s about also being a source of help, guidance, and information. It taught me how to figure out what we can do together and getting everyone to pull in the same direction. Show less
