Records work stream to implement a record project budgeting, artist scheduling and record project milestone tracking system. System replaced Excel based tools. Artist scheduling module supported better planning of artist touring and appearances. Milestone tracking system supported a smoother progression of record project planning and execution across label departments (A&R, Video, Art, Publicity, etc.). This provided record label departments with a more structured roadmap through record releases. Budgeting module supported a fundamental change in Marketing spend, budgeting, and tracking at a time when external threats such as Napster were impacting Warner Music Group’s sales and profitability (Marketing generally comprises approximately one-third of record project expenses).
