      2006 - 2012
Diploma in Chemical Engineering (Equivalent to MEng) at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Chemical Engineering

Diploma thesis title: Simulation and optimization of a third-staged reverse osmosis desalination plant using the software gPROMS v 3.4.0.

    • Imperial College London

      2014 - 2018
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at Imperial College London Chemical Engineering

PhD thesis title: Mathematical Modelling of both Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) for their personalized treatment

  • Experience

    • CPERI-CERTH

      Jul 2011 - Sept 2011
      Intern

Highlights: ▪ Simulation of a third-staged reverse osmosis desalination plant.▪ Understanding desalination process in pilot plants.▪ Collecting data for model validation.▪ Optimization by using alternative energy sources with HOMMER.

    • Imperial College London

      Sept 2013 - Dec 2013
      Early Stage Researcher

Reviewed cell cycle kinetics and the effect of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in hematopoiesis for developing a mathematical model. Achievements: ▪ Gained significant knowledge of MATLAB, Gproms, and Minitab programme.▪ Attended optional courses focused on dynamical systems, optimisation and biochemistry.

    • Imperial College London

      Mar 2014 - Mar 2018
      Ph.D. Candidate

Utilised MATLAB and gPROMS to develop multi-compartmental models for capturing the disease progression of both Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). Evaluated parameters for personalised treatment by incorporating pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and physiologically based pharmacokinetic modelling of the diseases' standard protocols. Achievement: ▪ Captured disease progression mathematically in semi-hypothetical patients.

    • KU Leuven

      Mar 2018 - Aug 2020
      Research Associate

Achievements: ▪ Developed mathematical models for analysis and system validation in MATLAB and gPROMS.▪ Formulated and published a model for ultrasound continuous crystallisation in just a year (AIChE 2019).Key Responsibilities:▪ Undertook mathematical modeling studies focused on crystal growth. Scope of work included designing and executing anti-solvent crystallization experiments in continuous microfluidic reactors to gather experimental data for analysis and validation.▪ Devised comprehensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models. These models were to be utilized to simulate and analyze the scaling up process of continuous crystallizers in COMSOL, with the goal of optimizing and improving the efficiency of the crystallization process.▪ Performed analysis of the experimental data obtained from the anti-solvent crystallization experiments and interpreting the results in order to draw meaningful conclusions and make recommendations for further research and development.
