      Summer Health Profession Education Program (SHPEP) Scholar

      Out of a competitive pool of applicants, I was honored to be selected as a distinguished SHPEP (Summer Health Professions Education Program) scholar, securing one of the highly coveted 20 positions for the dental track. - Was able to collaborate with other future healthcare leaders to work in inter-professional, collaborative teams to maximize the health of individual patients, communities, and populations. -Gained hands-on experience in the Rutgers College of Dental Medicine sim lab where I was able to perform Class II Amalgam preparations. - I participated in solving real-life healthcare scenarios through multimodal experimental learning strategies, such as practical, simulation-based clinical activities, shadowing, role-playing, and service learning opportunities through Body Interact. Gaining a better understanding of using theoretical knowledge in a realistic healthcare environment- In addition, an inter-professional simulation-based education experience. Through the guidance of healthcare physicians, I learned the significance of being a part of the healthcare industry in producing ethical and positive patient outcomes. Show less
