      Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium Poster Competition SMIFC Oct 2024 My team and I traveled to Chicago to participate in the annual SMIFC case competition. Together, we used a variety of investment analysis techniques to analyze the best possible stock investments. Because our portfolio is a value fund we are required to be more conservative with our investments. Even with these restrictions the fund grew 17% in 2023, and we are projected for even stronger growth in 2024. I was the financial analyst of my team, and I was expected to dissect financial information from a case; calculate information like NPV, IRR, CAGR, ROI, Projected Cash Flows, Profit Margin, Revenue… Show more Representing St. Mary's University, my team and I traveled to Dublin, Ireland to compete in the 28th annual NIBS case competition. This competition is an organization of the most competitive business universities in the world which were carefully chosen through a first round selection stage. I was the financial analyst of my team, and I was expected to dissect financial information from a case; calculate information like NPV, IRR, CAGR, ROI, Projected Cash Flows, Profit Margin, Revenue Segments, Financial Ratios, and Net Income; create a possible funding strategy for a created alternative; create financial models on PowerPoint that can convey the data; and present this information to a panel of judges who are industry professionals. The preparation period lasted 3-4 hours, while the presentation could only last a maximum of 15-20 minutes (depending on the case). In this competition I learned to become a better team player, and I was able to sharpen my finance and presentation skills. Show less
