I am a member of the Center for Statistics in the Social Sciences at the University of Washington and work with an interdisciplinary social network research group and an interdisciplinary influenza research group.

      As a statistician in the Center for Statistical and Quantitative Methods for Infectious Diseases (CSQUID), I develop network models of social contact behavior from survey data. I simulate influenza transmission over these contact networks to gain insight into how the network structure impacts the transmission process. My research will be used to improve a large-scale simulator used to predict disease outcomes and evaluate intervention strategies when new strains of influenza virus emerge.

      This position combines methodological and applied research, statistical consulting, and teaching statistics and computing. My research entails social network modeling, development of a randomized experiment to evaluate interventions aimed at reducing implicit racism, development of software illustrating statistical concepts, and other collaborative projects. I teach classes in an innovative undergraduate statistics major program, as well as courses to graduate and undergraduate students in other fields of study.
