Trained new interns and volunteers. Provided ongoing guidance and direction to volunteers throughout their work shifts. Species cared for included crows, goldfinches, herons, mergansers, and killdeer.

  Responsible for assisting a PhD student in a population density study of Yellow Warblers that measured the effect of playback songs and calls on the territory size and overall YEWA density. Responsible for spot mapping male YEWAs. Responsible for nest searching and recording the female's behavior, the size and number of eggs, the number of Brown-headed Cowbird eggs, and the development of the chicks. Also assisted in banding male and female YEWAs by helping set up mist nets, preparing bands, and recording the data. Responsible for maintaining call-boxes and data entry using Excel. Show less

  Responsible for intakes of new rehab patients which included giving medical exams, diagnosing injuries, determining any treatment needed and preparing suitable caging and food. Euthanized birds who had untreatable injuries. Cleaned and fed rehab and permanent birds. Responsible for giving educational programs to guests throughout the day. Answered the phone and adviseed callers on the appropriate course of action in dealing with injured birds. Also started training an imprinted American Crow for weight management and mental activity.   Primarily responsible for cleaning, feeding, medicating, and medical care of all raptors admitted to the center. Diagnosed injuries using an x-ray machine as needed, and devised a treatment plan. Most medical care provided was wound care and head trauma in addition to fixing broken bones. Euthanized raptors when determined necessary and released healed ones. Other responsibilities included caring for ducks and geese, and feeding, cleaning and medicating songbirds, assisting other team leaders by helping feed, clean and medicate baby mammals including baby squirrels, opossums, and raccoons, feeding adult foxes and bobcats. Also was responsible for general cleaning and maintenance of the center and outside enclosures. Show less
