  Applied Community and Peace Research : The purpose of this course is to have the student engage with the community and to conduct research on a pertinent topic. The Applied Seminar is intended to give students the opportunity to spend time practicing newly acquired ethical decision making skills and knowledge, as well as to explore new or different areas of interest. Students should properly identify the stakeholders as related to their topic or policy issue and the impact of potential scenarios on each major stakeholder. The final report and the presentation should include, de minimis: Financial issues (cost and benefit to stakeholders); Delivery issues (demographic considerations); Evaluation (frequency, methods, cost). The final written report is approximately 10 pages, exclusive of a one page Executive Summary. The supporting documents are included in the appendices part of the report.(Topics were delivered & customized to accomplish the objectives) . At the end of the course, the students were able to come up with a publishable article based on their respective disciplines that would make use of research in the preparation of peace, human rights & community research papers based on five research-impact factors. Students were able to discuss best community service practices based on the needs of the community while also addressing or contributing to national & international development goals in partnership with other stakeholders. The students were guided on its preparation based on 5 Research impact indicators & had presented the same in a seminar with invited guests from AUSN & all concerned stakeholders. The activity was very serious yet fun & provided confidence to student professionals to document their community service initiatives for presentation/publications, an indicator of having conducted an applied scholarly community/peace research studies. The presentation will focus on the enhancement of the seafarers’ competencies; current trends in Philippine MET, as well as the various stakeholders’ responsibility, to enhance the global capacity of seafarers. Further, from a case study on the use of Technology in enhancing MET, seven (7) various issues on MET will be asked which the maritime stakeholders concerned may ponder including but not limited to technology challenges. Moreover, a total of eighteen (18) issues will further be raised for the APEC 2017 key innovators, policy makers and participants to think and possibly discuss in this historical event. Two global professional associations: the Nautical Institute (NI) and Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology (IMAREST), will be introduced particularly its vast electronic learning tools available online for free, so that seafarers may benefit from the vast “OCEANS” of opportunities.
