I used extensively MATLAB Simulink to test the dynamic stability without any control system (i.e. the airframe stability), and to design SAS and autopilots to enhance the dynamic response to external disturbances and to automatize some manoeuvres. 2015-2017 (University of Bologna, Cardiff University)I carried out a numerical study of turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection, which is a flow that exemplifies many aspects of thermally driven turbulence. The data sets obtained from several flow simulations have been analysed in terms of single-point statistics (mean, variance, etc.) and two-point statistics (cross-correlations, structure functions, etc.). The results have shed a new light on the physics of natural convection and paved the way for the development of a physics-based model for LES.2014-2016 (University of Bologna, Cardiff University)I designed from scratch several programs in FORTRAN to postprocess large data sets and modified existing codes that perform DNS of turbulent flows. To improve the performance in supercomputing architectures, both simulation and postprocessing codes have been parallelized using MPI and OpenMP protocols for distributed and shared memory, respectively.
