  Merchandising Work Experience

  In June, 2018, I spent a week at the Matalan Head Office in Knowsley, Liverpool, experiencing the typical work as a Merchandiser. During my time at the company I was able to have an insight into the logistics and financial aspects of the business, looking specifically at different ways to increase profit. I found that my work experience was useful, with it allowing me to gain an appreciation of the maths that goes into a business. In future, I would be interested to look into more options regarding this line of work. Show less

  In June 2019 I began taking part in Maths Department open days, alongside lecturers and academics, to try to encourage prospective students to study Mathematical Sciences at the University of Liverpool. So far, this role has helped to increase my communication skills which I can transfer into many job situations in the future, and has increased my confidence when talking to members of the public and other students.
