  Responsible for developing .ASP web applications that provided e-commerce functionality, database transactions as well as form submissions utilizing Perl, ASP, PHP. Took over the administration duties for numerous Windows NT/2000 IIS 4 web servers and various Microsoft SQL Servers (6, 7 and 2000) that weren't being managed. Responsible for a number of Sonicwall Pro 300 series firewalls. Migrated IIS web servers to version 5 and 6 hosting internal company web sites as well as over 300 customer web sites. Provided customer support for FTP and website issues along with domain name management and SSL certificate installation. Responsible for web server/web site backups through Windows scripting jobs. Worked with a team to upgrade the company's billing system while incorporating an additional 10,000 customers from a company buyout. Created and maintained MSSQL DTS packages for backing up databases, transaction logs, log shipping, triggers and other scheduled jobs. Wrote queries to import and export customer information for reporting. Began learning RedHat Linux 7.x and built Linux Snort IDS systems to keep an eye on security issues within the hosting.   Systems Administrator

  The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) systems administrator position included server administration duties for numerous RedHat/CentOS/Apple/Windows servers, the replacement of aged Apple/Sun systems as well as the introduction of VMware ESX, HP Lefthand and NetApp storage arrays for upgraded Oracle systems. NOLS web sites were migrated to Heartbeat clustered RedHat Apache web servers. Responsible for numerous Apache 2.x LAMP systems built using kickstart for production internal and external web, e-commerce sites as well as other systems for development purposes. Existing Windows systems were upgraded to provide for more stability with the financial and fund raising applications. The NOLS email system was migrated to a mirrored Surgemail system handling over 500 email accounts for the School’s staff and faculty located around the world. Responsible for recommending hardware/software as well as the configuration of those systems. Introduced Nagios and Cacti monitoring to augment the existing Intermapper system monitoring tools. Recommended and migrated physical hardware from remote data centers to closer locations. Provided 24x7 3rd level support for internal users to support in all areas from printer support, email to network connectivity, DNS and application issues with Apple and Windows desktops. The results of these upgrades enabled NOLS to handle larger amounts of web traffic as well as providing platforms for developers to create more efficient tools for staff which resulted in increased student admissions. Currently utilizing CentOS servers running in VMware virtualized systems with cPanel for the hosting control panel under the Wind Hosting brand. Windows web servers running Plesk, Microsoft SQL and MySQL databases, Foundry/Extreme switch gear, Sonicwall, APF and CSF firewalls have also been in use.
