    • Wanjia Asset Management Co., Ltd.

      Jul 2020 - Aug 2020
      Research Intern

My internship at Wanjia was quite an educational experience. Here, I conducted research and studied industries including securities company and electric vehicles under the guidance of my tutor. I also collected and organised data regarding the fund's past performance as well as help out with other administrative tasks. Through these, I was able to gain insights of how to analyse an industry, a company and the related up & downstream companies, which strengthened my ability to do financial analysis. Furthermore, I have been able to become more productive with Wind (a Chinese financial terminal) in addition to further improving my excel skills. I believe that my time at Wanjia has provided me with a stronger foundation for my future career and I am very grateful for that. Show less

    • 太平洋资产管理有限责任公司

      Jun 2021 - Aug 2021
      Fixed Income Department Intern

During my time at Pacific Asset Management, I was tasked with various research work, mostly surrounding the macroeconomic condition and its implications on the Chinese credit market. Specifically, I explored the analytical framework of consumption in the economy and analysed its recovery from the peak of the pandemic. From my research, I concluded that China’s economic recovery still suffers from structural imbalances, most prominently due to the lagged recovery of consumptions on social activities. In addition, I was tasked with exploring quantitative analytical frameworks, including the predictive models from Chinese securities companies. This further revealed to me the variability involved in the financial market, as correlations between variables, their explanatory powers, and the conclusive signals are often insignificant. Furthermore, I also had the opportunity to apply my knowledge from university when I was tasked to recreate the World Trade Leading Index from a working paper published by the IMF. From the two methods described in this paper, I found that the factor method to be a better predictor of world trade with updated data from the past 20 years. Show less
