  "Africa's largest supermarket retailer"Outline: The optimal facilitation of customer-driven demand forecasting, as well as internal and external collaboration and forecast utilisation across the Group. Managing a team of three Senior Demand Planners and ten Demand Planners to deliver accurate demand planning, while focussing on reporting, change management and constant systems innovation.Functions and duties: • Engaging and structuring collaboration efforts with local and international suppliers through forecast sharing and initial CPFR efforts to address service level disconnects and efficiency optimisation. • Working closely with multi-echelon (DC & Store) replenishment to help ensure stock availability and optimal stock levels. • Team management and organisational development (creation of Senior Demand Planner role) as well as leadership training and succession planning. • Reporting and ensuring constant improvement in forecast accuracy, while encouraging category- and event specific planning. • Constant engagement with software supplier JDA / Blue Yonder to optimise the forecasting tool and drive forecasting system improvements. • Developing a Demand strategy to drive Shoprite as the largest retailer in Africa towards a truly customer-centric forecast and planning-driven supply chain. Show less Outline: Responsible for the generation of a customer orientated forecast allowing the advancement of a holistic demand-driven supply chain within and across the Shoprite Group.Duties and functions: • Through the collation of market intelligence from marketing, replenishment, buying and external sources such as Nielsen assisted in analytically creating consensus driven forecast at various levels of aggregation in the supply chain. • This cross-functional research allows for a better understanding of demand-drivers, which assisted in the development of better forecasts for various operational and strategic needs. • As Demand Planning is a new function in the Shoprite Group of Companies one of my key functions was the initial integration of the software within Shoprite and the identification of improvement areas to ensure the optimal utilisation of the Demand Planning software. This started with the replenishment function and expanding to other business units. • This integration involved change management to highlight the advantages of a demand-driven supply chain and the ability to optimise stock levels and replenishment practices through a better view of the future. • Furthermore the growing nature of the demand planning function allowed scope for the development of a new demand planner on-boarding process, whilst also creating the opportunity to formalise the department.
