      At GMAC I started my career as an entry level Field Representative and worked my way up to a Customer Relations Manager / Credit Supervisor, holding several positions in between these two levels. As a Field Representative I handled many duties as an outside of the office employee. These duties included collection activities for retail customers and dealerships, checking wholesale inventories of dealership's retail vehicles, and other duties as requested and required by the position. I was promoted to a Customer Relations Credit Representative with duties that included servicing accounts for retail customers and assigned dealerships' concerns. In this position I also had supervisory responsibilities for the Field Representatives and Credit Clerks assigned to my area. I also handled duties that included retail approval of submitted automobile credit applications. During this time I also handled credit and collection responsibilities for Medium and Heavy Duty truck applicants. I had lateral moves to Administrative Credit Representative and District Representative before being promoted to Customer Relations Supervisor. As Customer Relations Supervisor I supervised all of the employees that handled the accounts for the dealership that had the largest outstanding receivables in the country for GMAC.       I started at Frank Gillman Pontiac - GMC as a retail salesman in 1986 and was recognized as a GMC Sales Masters Guild achiever that same year. This Sharpstown location automobile complex also included Mitsubishi, Dodge, and Honda new cars. At the end of 1989 I was promoted to a Used Car Manager of the main Used Car location in Sharpstown. Within a few months, the changes I brought to this operation changed it from always being in the Red when it came to profit to being in the Black every month. This was a very significant turnaround of gross profit for the dealership. Later I became the first Used Car Manager for the Gillman's Rosenberg complex. Show less

I used my previous experience to get the right vehicles on the lot at prices that allowed the salespeople here to offer a good deal to the customer while making a profit for the dealership. The number of vehicles sold and the profit made were both increased while I was at this dealership.

The short term operation of this venture went fine, but the long term lease for a suitable physical location became a problem and we decided not to continue the venture.
