Experience

GameStop
Apr 2010 - Jan 2014Senior Game AdvisorAs a part-time manager, I closed and opened the storefront, including register counting, deposits, and other operational tasks. I was a point of contact for part-time staff training, delegation of duties, and task management. I solved customer service concerns and supported the part-time members of my staff by communicating policy clearly and effectively and resolving difficult customer issues. My supervisors frequently entrusted me with sole staffing of the entire storefront. I was the friendly face of a large corporation and ensured customers left satisfied with their experience while also informing them of any bonus or promotional offers/services. Show less

Mar 2012 - Jul 2015Senior Peer Advisor-- Undergraduate Advising CenterI spearheaded the overhaul of training materials for fourteen student staff members and worked in collaboration with professional staff members to deliver that training. I met one-on-one with all staff members on a regular basis to check-in and provide support or clarification. By brainstorming and delivering on an engagement 'game', I was able to address low morale in the office and keep student staff members excited to contribute. Additionally, I instituted an appreciation box that allowed everyone to compliment and thank one another for various tasks throughout the week. I gathered and delivered these messages every Friday for an office of 32 advisors and 14 student staff. I organized and ran the front desk for 32 advisors. I served as a peer advisor for undergraduate students on major concerns, current semester concerns and future enrollment. During summer orientation, I led an enrollment lab of one hundred new students and twenty professional advisors. In my role, I served as a liaison between professional advisor goals and student staff concerns/experiences. Show less

I collaborated with a part time professional staff member in University Housing to arrange accommodations on campus, reserve space, help with check-in and check-out of larger groups and attend to the needs of on campus conference attendees. University of Oregon
Jun 2017 - Feb 2020Career and Academic Adviser - School of Journalism and CommunicationI advised 2,300 pre and full majors in the School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) on curriculum requirements and career interests. My involvement with students began at prospective status and continued to support them beyond commencement. I met with students in a variety of modes from drop-in appointments to email advising. I organized the SOJC Student Services career workshop series. This included booking space, organizing staff for presentation delivery, ensuring all materials are updated, promoting the events, collaborating with SOJC Writing Central and administrating the sign-up of student attendees for nine 20-person capacity workshops each year. I regularly researched job and internship opportunities in the media industry to post on sojccareers.uoregon.edu (now housed in Handshake) as well as processed employer submitted positions. I created content for @SOJCcareers and @SOJCadvising on twitter. I taught the SOJC transfer seminar. This course orients first-term transfer students to campus resources and SOJC student involvement opportunities available to them. This course typically has over twenty students and meet two times a week.I interviewed, recruited, and supported the selection of the 2019 Academic Residential Community for Media and Social Action. This group of up to 30 students lived together, took year long classes together, and benefited from department facutly taught seminar connecting big ideas to the ways media can support social justice and equity. I used StarRez and zoom to interview students. I also trained and supervised current ARC students as co-interviewers. I compiled notes and communicated with applicants about their status. I solidified enrollment into the appropriate combined course and later provided support through Feb 2020 when I exited the position, going on service trips, doing one-on-one check-ins, and delivering in class workshops. The University of Kansas School of Business
Feb 2020 - nowI advise pre-business students, current business students, and business alumni on career materials, strategies, and best practices. This includes education on evolving business fields as well as new technologies to implement accessibility and support of our students. Students are seen in-person and virtually, both garnering praise and high marks on follow-up assessment of services. I pitched, launched, and now supervise the Business Career Ambassador program, supporting up to ten selected students in a volunteer leadership organization that includes formulating semester training and professional development opportunities. Yearly, I teach 100+ students in a required professionalism course, BUS 210, harnessing multiple platforms and successfully hosting guest speakers. By collaborating with team members each year, curriculum is re-orchestrated and tweaked based on student suggestion and classroom experiences. During spring and summer 2021, I served on an internal Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging taskforce developing recommendations in small groups to increase the programming and alignment of career development and alumni engagement opportunities around the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. These recommendations contributed to the growth of full-time staff dedicated to diversity initiatives. Show less
