Our primary function is to facilitate skills development by establishing learning programmes such as learnerships, skills programmes, internships and other strategic learning initiatives. This is done through the disbursement of grants to employers and training providers. We are also tasked with monitoring the quality of occupation-based training within the services sector scope as delegated by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).There are millions of South Africans, young and old, who need to learn new skills. Some are already in employment and need to improve their skills and to learn new ones so they can play a meaningful role in South Africa’s economy. The services sector, one of the economic sectors of the economy, contributes over a quarter of the GDP and employs over 3 million people. To maintain and growth the strength of this sector, the industry needs to employ competent and skilled labour force. The Services SETA bridges the gap between the formal education and training system and the workplace by facilitating and funding learning programmes that build skills-set required by industries (the world of work). To achieve this, the Services SETA works in partnership with public and private learning institutions accredited to deliver the training on its behalf. Show less
