  I contributed to Project Aarohan, founded by fellows of Teach for India. I added a functionality where logged-in teachers can upload student information using an Excel sheet, and it also gets stored in the backend MongoDB database. Previously, teachers had to fill out a form for each student to create their entry. I utilized multer to upload and store the student entries.Additionally, I created a proof of concept for OCR of attendance registers, allowing teachers to take pictures of attendance registers, and the OCR functionality extracts the data of the students. As a result, we observed a 40% increase in website traffic, demonstrating the positive impact of the added functionalities.In the midst of these tasks, I also had the opportunity to explore the Chart.js library in JavaScript.   Software Engineer Intern

  I worked with the Excel web team (E&D) at Microsoft and led the development of an Office Add-in for Excel web. With project authority, set up the add-in environment from scratch, using ReactJS and TypeScript to develop the UI for the add-in task pane and Office dialogs. OfficeJS APIs were used for seamless communication between office dialogs, external sources, and the task pane. The decision to implement the Add-in resulted in an 80% reduction in the production roll-out cycle, as opposed to making direct changes to the main codebase.For the first time, I became comfortable working with promises and gained in-depth knowledge of how promises function in asynchronous operations. Implemented the k-means clustering algorithm for color palette extraction from images and documented the project from scratch, leading to a 30% improvement in debugging. Additionally, I actively participated in code reviews and collaborated with other teams, fostering a growth mindset. Familiarized myself with Microsoft's code repository, which is the world's second-largest repository.In the midst of these tasks, I also had the opportunity to learn about the functioning of LLMs like ChatGPT, DALL-E-2, and gained some hands-on experience with Azure with bootcamps, specially crafted for Interns.
