      Nov 2017 - Oct 2020
      English Tutor

I worked individually with a student throughout their 3rd- 5th grade school years, assessing the student's literacies using self-designed and outside-sourced assessment materials. Following my assessment of skills, I designed and implemented instruction created specifically for this student's needs, working on strengthening weaknesses and building additional skills on the request of the student's parent.

    • NEWARK CHARTER SCHOOL

      Jan 2019 - Jul 2023

In this role, I worked with 5-10 students at any given time to design instruction around 4+ different texts and across 4 different grade levels based on summer reading needs. Additionally, I adhered to IEP guidelines to help students work towards reading, writing, social-emotional, and organizational goals. I administered and collected precise documentation of assessment data in order to track student progress and work with a paraprofessional in a meaningful co teaching relationship. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers, I have worked as a substitute teacher, facilitating and leading a variety of subject-specific classes for elementary, middle, and high school age groups, including groups of students with special needs. I have carried out teachers' pre-planned lessons and assisted students with the completion of classwork.

I attended to grammatical correctness, as well as syntactical errors that could interfere with meaning.

As a teaching assistant, I worked with two separate classes: ENGL280 (English for Non-majors) and ENGL294 (Grammar and Composition). Across these courses, I graded assignments on Canvas school software and left students written feedback on their work. Additionally, I converted study materials into digital formats, proctored exam retakes, and held concept review sessions for groups and individual students.
