      RF Engineer

RF planning and optimization of 60+ GSM/PCS1900 cell sites. Experienced in bandwidth-limited situations. Responsibilities include drive testing, CW testing, RF propagation planning, power control, channel assignments and neighbor planning in both RSA’s and MSA’s. Drive testing to analyze propagation data and field test data post process. Analysis to meet capacity/blocking and C/I ratio and quality objectives. Determine antenna configuration, engineering parameters and equipment capacity needs and upgrades to maintain optimal system performance. Microwave avoidance coordination. Determine site search areas, height, antenna type and power needs. Regularly attend city zoning meetings for site acquisition aid. Monitored trafficking data for capacity issues involving prevention of cell site blocking and trunking issues. OMCR, MSC, BSC command experience. FCC and FAA filing and maintaining up to date compliance with regulations. Show less

    • US Cellular

      Feb 2001 - Jul 2001
      RF Engineer (contractor)

US Cellular is a TDMA/CDMA/AMPS network using Nortel equipment. Some duties included propagations for zoning meetings using MapInfo and Wizard. New cell site placement and antenna/site optimization. Drafting extension agreements and FCC/601 filings. Network included several hundred cell sites.

    • AT&T - Nokia

      Oct 2001 - Dec 2001
      RF Engineer (contractor)

Optimization for an AT&T Wireless GSM/GPRS system in the Detroit area using Nokia equipment. Optimization was implemented using Nokia SAM/TOM, TEMS and the Nokia NMS. Responsible for 150 of 450+ sites using techniques such as power control, neighbor analysis, BSIC and frequency changes implemented directly on NMS. Designed drive test routes and filled in as a ‘data collector’ occasionally. Worked directly with ‘drive testers’, ‘data collectors’ and other engineers to ensure optimal collection. Analysis also included existing TDMA network data. Show less

    • Cingular

      Jan 2002 - Dec 2002
      RF Engineer (contractor)

Design and optimization of a Cingular Wireless GSM system in Puerto Rico using Nortel equipment. Site qualification/objectives, antenna selection, analysis of drive data and model tuning in Wizard. While stationed at the Nortel NMS, interfaced with drive testers, and other engineers as a team to ensure optimal collection optimization and parameter adjustments. Analysis also included existing TDMA network.

    • T-Mobile

      Jun 2003 - Jul 2004

Optimization of an existing wireless GSM system in Michigan and Ohio using Nortel equipment. Duties included expansion overview, drive testing, analysis of drive data, radio adds & deletes, software parameter changes through OMC, customer trouble ticket resolution (AIMS), antenna selection and analysis of hardware functionality to ensure best possible Health Index. Programs used in troubleshooting and design work included Odyssey, MapInfo, Metrica (and Kingfisher) and TEMS. Optimization and design of an existing wireless GSM system in Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana using Nortel equipment. Duties included drive testing, analysis of drive data, radio adds & deletes, software parameter changes through OMC, antenna selection and analysis of hardware functionality to ensure best possible Health Index. Programs used in troubleshooting and design work included Odyssey, MapInfo, Metrica and Nokia Sam/Tom. Extensive direct OMC work with full control over all parameters.
