      Peter spent 14 years with the Royal Dutch Shell Group in a variety of positions spanning Strategic Planning, Marketing and Sales Management. He was Head of Downstream Strategic Planning in Shell Nederland, Head of Marketing and procurement for base chemicals in Italy, Responsible for Fuel Oil Strategy in the UK, and the Retail network between the Humber and the Scottish Border in the UK.

      Peter was on the management team of AGAS, a joint venture between Elf (now Total) and Compagnie Generale des Eaux (now Veolia) in the commerical industrial gas markets in the UK. He led the company's move into the second tier of commmercial customers as this tranche of customers was brought into retail competition.

      A founder Director of the company. Peter put together the joint venture between Calor Gas and Texaco to create Calortex which he jointly led, and then later became the Director responsible for regulatory affairs and business development as ownership structures evolved. During his time in Calortex the business went from a blank piece of paper to a mains gas supply business with over 500,000 customers prior to its acquisition by npower in 1999.
