Show less While at The International School of Amsterdam, I write and execute MYP-based curriculum and lessons and develop the alignment of formative and summative assessments to learning outcomes and MYP Humanities criterion in Grade 7. I also co-plan and execute MYP- based curriculum and assessment for Grade 9 Humanities. As a homeroom teacher, I act as an academic guide to students and parents; providing and facilitating student led conferences and maintain continual communication with parents and students through my 7th grade website and emails. As the Grade 7 Level Coordinator, I facilitate team meetings with a focus on co-planning and executing the Homeroom program. I attend bimonthly meetings and planning sessions with the Assistant Head of Upper School and other Middle School Coordinators to discuss and implement protocols to help establish a vision for a middle school culture.       I taught US history to 8th grade students who are also dedicated athletes to their snow discipline. As they travel around the country, and the world for competitions, I provide individualized instruction on content, skills and concepts for students to complete using web based sources with a focus on communication skills. While in the classroom, students focus on the same content, skills and concepts while working to strengthen collaboration skills.

      My responsibilities include coordinating international students to study at Vail Mountain School in Vail, Colorado. This includes establishing and maintaining student visas, recruiting and placing students in homestay families, meeting with international students weekly to discuss their immersion into American culture, homestay life and academic strengths and areas of improvement. I am also responsible for Vail Mountain School's Peer Mentorship Program. The International Peer Mentor Program is an opportunity for VMS students to show leadership capability as cultural ambassadors, to engage in meaningful exchange with students from around the globe, to form powerful lifelong friendships, and to benefit from increased travel and study abroad. Additionally I will work with staff to develop ELL strategies in the mainstream classroom and develop, plan and execute an ELL class to international students. Show less

      High School History Teacher, History Department Chair

      As a high school history teacher at Vail Mountain School, I write and execute lesson plans and assessments based on learning outcomes inspired by the National Council for Social Studies C3 Framework. As a school that works in close partnership with Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy, I plan and post all lessons online for our winter athletes (an all students) so that they may keep pace with their history course while at competitions. In addition to teaching, I communicate to students and parents through PowerSchool learning with daily lesson plans, updated grades and emails. I also co-lead orientation trips at the start of the school year, participate in ski Fridays and co-lead a February intra-term course. Show less
