  Teaching a small group of students to perform practical chemical experiments, helping them make connections between the theoretical background and the practical experiments and evaluating their written and practical work. Explaining and demonstrating how to perform IR spectroscopy, GCMS, refractive index measurements and boiling-and-melting point determination, to undergraduates. Carrying out GCMS measurements of samples supplied by undergraduates. This project involved constructing functionalized and regular Twaron oligomers of defined length via a solid phase synthesis scheme (SPPS).The Twaron oligomers were used to construct an accurate molecular weight distribution curve of Twaron in sulphuric acid. The UV sensitive diacetylene functionalized Twaron oligomers were designed to structurally resemble spider silk. The project was in cooperation with Teijin Aramid b.v.

  Working on the development of auxetic yarns and textile structures for adaptive and responsive apparel, protective equipment and soft structural elements. The aim of this research is to use existing (textile) manufacturing techniques to produce new textile meta materials. Aside from the technical development my role also involves working alongside fellow ESRs with engineering and design background and dissemination of activities and findings to the wider public.
