      Adaptive/Special Needs Counselor

I am an energetic and enthusiastic individual who uses my personality to help make my participants comfortable in social settings. I have found over the years that my friendly demeanour is a key tool in helping those who I work with to let go of some of their anxieties. This particular job is for the participants to have fun and be social within society, that is the mission and while we are together as a group we do go out and have a genuinely good time. We go bowling, we do pottery at local studios, have water fights, do arts and crafts, adventure, and we cook. We also do other activities such as going to the movies, doing a zumba classes and playing some sports in the gym. We have joined with the North Shore Arc on some occasions as well as other groups from the YMCA. Show less

My responsibilities within this job are very broad but mostly I do marketing research, I see what our competitors are selling and the units sold for certain periods of time. We use this information to help up better price our products. I also do preflight checks making sure that the books are properly assembled and their appearance is what it was designed to look like. Since we sell study guides I also do checks to make sure that the answer key and rationals are matching. Most of my job is checking authors and composers work to make sure that it is done to our expectations. Show less

      Aug 2014 - now
      Substitute Infant/Toddler/Preschool Teacher

I provide support for the lead teacher by assisting or completing any task required at that time. While observing for safety I also make it a point to be very hands on. I love to get the class laughing so sometimes I will do a dance party or if the class seems to need to relax I will grab some books and have the children sit and listen, puzzles are also a key tool for relaxation.
