  Dissertation: Hybridized Nanoscale Transition Metal Oxides as Anode Materials for Lithium-ion Batteries• Development of spinel ferrite nanoparticle synthesis by aminolytic method. Size and composition (rare-earth element doping) were tuned by changing starting materials, reaction time and temperature. A direct correlation between electrochemical properties and particle size or composition was established.• Synthesis of a series of hybridized transition-metal oxide nanoparticles with advantageous nanoarchitecture by hydrothermal method. The morphology-property relationship was studied.• Synthesis and application of gold nanorods in all-solid-state lithium rechargeable batteries.• Charge-discharge measurement was carried out to evaluate the stability and cycling performance. Lithium-ion conductivity measurement and charge storage mechanism analysis were carried out to investigate the origins of boosted lithium storage performance.
