      Technical Adviser to the South Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication Program

      Provided technical and managerial support to the Ministry of Health’s Guinea Worm Eradication Program, through the Carter Center, with the goal of a world free from Guinea Worm disease. Managed staff of up to 13 South Sudanese field officers and 2 program officers to implement vital interventions to stop Guinea Worm disease transmission, including water treatment, household water filter distribution, community health education and epidemiological analyses of infected people. Managed program resources, annual budget (US$60,000), and ensured that monthly data reports reached headquarters amidst limited infrastructure. Helped to facilitate consolidation and evacuation of staff and ensure that directions from Country Representative were followed in field, during attempted coup and risk of civil war. Achieved 100% reduction, in two years, in East Awerial County from 94 cases in 2010 to zero cases in 2012 and reduction from five cases in 2011 to zero cases for 2013 in Awul, Pagol and Akop Payams. Accelerated 15 varied working groups with government representatives, event sponsors and guest speakers resulting in organizational policy improvements and 37 high quality events for the business community. Cultivated 1,200+ stakeholders by developing and executing communication plans, resulting in the launch of a live website, Facebook Page and LinkedIn Community. Developed and piloted a sustainable scholarship and professional training program – including marketing, interviewing, assessment, and program development - for 12 diverse college students with aspirations to positively lead Lao economic development.
