  I worked in the ED here as a student worker, because it was the only ED in the area that would hire students into the ED. I worked there as a student until I graduated, and received my RN license, in February of 2008. I was transitioned into the role of charge nurse approximately 6 months after graduating. Right before I received my license, one of our busy inner city trauma centers closed and all of their ambulance traffic was diverted to our facility. I gained amazing charge nurse experience at this facility, due to the high acuity of our patients and our ever increasing volume. After about three and a half years, I began spending some time with the trauma department, gathering data needed for the Los Angeles County Trauma Database. Show less

  Clinical nurse manager of 35-bed Emergency Department, with 80,000 yearly visits. Level-2 trauma center, base station, stroke receiving center and ED approved for Pediatrics. Managed 117 FTEs. Assisted trauma team, consisting of trauma surgeons and mid-level practitioners, in providing care to patients having sustained trauma injuries. I was involved in gathering data and reviewing cases for monthly trauma committee peer reviews. Worked with community stakeholders to provided trauma prevention programs. Assisted in patient care by responding to emergency department trauma codes. Managed quality of trauma care provided by facility's nursing staff.
