I spent my first week in the “Dispensing Section”, where I learnt the following skills:Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) of the Dispensing section, Preparation procedure of Magic Mouth Wash and Morphine Elixir, Stacking & De-stacking System, Drug Storage Specifications,Discharged Patients and Ambulatory Patients counselling, Medication Errors and Near Miss Look Alike Sound Alike (LASA), Cold Chain Maintenance, Expired Medications, Unit dose dispensing & STAT-order medication and Controlled Substances.In the second week in the “Aseptic Section”, Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) of the Aseptic section, Aseptic Guidelines, Antibiotics & Chemotherapy Preparation, Hospital-acquired and Nosocomial Infections, Laminar Air Flow, Positive & Negative Pressure, Chemo spillage and Extravasation, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) preparation, Chemo Protocols, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), pH Partition Theory, Hospital Information System (HIS), and Satellite PharmacyIn the third week in the “Clinical Section”, Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) of the Clinical Section, Pharmaceutical Care Plan and Clinical Wards Rounds (Chemo-Adult and Paeds, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Critical Care Unit rounds, Palliative Care rounds, and Surgical Wards rounds), Patient care plan, Discharge Dispensing, Barriers to Pharmaceutical care, Drug Information Center (DIC), Poison Control Center and Clinical Trails Protocols.In the fourth week in the “Miscellaneous Section”, Nuclear Medicine, Inventory Control and Its Management, Internal Mock Audits, ASHP, JCI, Rack and hospital Audits, Formulary and Non-Formulary Drugs, Restricted Drugs, ISO and JCI guidelines, Hospital Codes for efficient work and Research-oriented Skills.
