      Butchers assistant (!)

I was an assistant butcher (!) with a view to proportionatley carving up meat into cuts in the right quantity that both met the demands of the shoppers with an eye on the necessities of profit-making to stay in business. Delivered orders to a variety of pubs, restaurants and other establishments along a fair section of the A31 corridor between Alresford and Farnham.

      Manager

This was a butchers franchise in a Kwik-Save store in Chertsey High Street. The aim to 'pile-it high and sell it cheap' that was attainable in other areas had to be tempered with a locally-driven demand for a higher quality product that might normally be expected at such an establishment but all the same at a reasonable value. This counter had a front window presentation that was a long way from its backroom preparation area, which required planning and cunning to ensure adequate stocks were nearly always available (variable weather conditions notwithstanding). Oct 1996 - now

As of June 2018 I stepped back from Security Manager into a new role I partly created and developed on the contract. It provides further opportunities for me to develop as part of the "engine room", supplying not only a good service to the same customer, but also developing the means of supplying it. As part of the management team, working in league with the contract manager and both site-based managers, this role allows me to further my quest in ensuring successful process implementation, in line with maintaining audit compliance within the given physical security framework. As well as giving structure to others ideas and proposals, I'm now in a position with more freedom and time to complete ongoing tasks more efficiently, including some that always needed to be done, freeing operational time for the entire security management team, especially during these Pandemic-affected times we now live in. I first assisted the current Contract Manager incumbent from his June 2018 arrival and helped ensure contract stability while he found his feet, met the team, learned who did / could do what, before having to understand all varied VISA security requirements – and there is a lot. In my current role I assist him and both his site-based managers, providing support across a wide range of admin and process-driven tasks. I lead in onboarding officers, from initial ID and Screening, through activating their account and obtaining all systems access needs. Onboarding is fraught with issues. I therefore pulled every disparate thing needed into one place - that it works has been proven many times by one of the managers just doing it with ease, by following my process. This year, I re-engineered the very specific, multiple-stage European badge issuance process. Where pitfalls existed, but were managed out-of-sight, I have now enabled anyone to take on this role and succeed. Overall, this is a challenging job with value-add, which I am enjoying very much! Show less Responsible for helping deliver a cohesive security solution across the estate of a prime UK-based blue chip organisation. I first learned my current trade in this environment which has developed as I grew with it and rose to become security manager (and deputy contract manager). I have enjoyed meeting and dealing with all staff, not just where I am generally based but across the entire estate. Duties are multi-functional but the focus is as an embedded, integral part of the security operation, working in league with other departments to ensure a safe and secure environment is maintained for all who work and visit VISA Europe's buildings. The revolution in security systems deployed onsite was core in my helping develop an Assignment Instruction set that doubled as a thorough training manual, something that remains core to new officers as well as refreshing the core teams. It remains a robust, scalable and still-developing project, covering as it does double the number of locations than originally envisaged, yet remaining true to the original concept. My working title falls a little short of what I am capable of, thinking outside of the box, to provide solutions which don't just work for me, but can be understood by others on the various teams that support me. That said, I am proud to provide a bedrock whom others can call on for help and advice, ultimately a manager who is willing to support the teams he works with and knows he can be relied upon. Joined HHCR Basingstoke Community Radio (June 2019) via personal recommendation and invitation. This was soon after its inception. Originally based at the Roger Morris Centre near Riverdene, HHCR now resides at The Orchard, just off London road, from where it can continue growing its listening base and develop its already-comprehensive output. My show is necessarily on Tuesday evenings between 8-10pm (work commitments of course!), which is called "The 60's Mix Up" because I play any good music from that decade, including hits, misses, EP & LP cuts, plus genuine rarities. It's all live, so you could witness a real "mix up" in progress. All good fun. Since the Pandemic started, I live stream my show from home, to great effect. I was previously with Hospital Radio at Basingstoke & North Hants Hospital (2011-2017). Presenting "Music On Demand" - music requests from patients in the hospital (part of the Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust), and took part in fundraising, plus pre-recorded shows via voice-tracking, using the "Myriad" playout and music / sound management system.
