This involved the day to day running of the laboratory. I worked on a project funded by the Welcome Trust concentrating on paediatric meningitis. The project involved setting up a rodent model to understand the effects that meningitis caused in various tissues, primarily the brain. The nature of the project required highly specialised skills in small animal surgery, thus I had to successfully complete a Home office course in animal management and welfare, allowing me to hold a Home Office licence in animal surgery. Alongside this I was also working on an independent project which was to form an extension of the initial project. Show less
