As an Assistant Professor of Business my job entails teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of marketing, international business and entrepreneurship. My research interests revolve around questions of the entrepreneur and small business management. I regularly look to advise, mentor and partner with early stage organizations in both the for profit and not-for-profit sector both nationally and internationally. As the Academic Advisor to the Kabara Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies my role is to engender a spirit and appreciation of entrepreneurship among students, faculty and the greater communityI have actively been involved with the institute on a number of matters. Some of these areas of involvement include: 1) the creation of the Kabara Entrepreneur In Training Program, 2) planning and hosting an IOT event for students and community members in the Twin Cities area 3) hosting various workshops, speaker sessions, panel presentations throughout the academic year and 4) coordinating the annual Elevator Pitch competition on campus. My role requires me to report the center’s activity to the advisory board. Additionally, I have represented the institute at global conferences. Presently, I am working on developing the strategic plan for the institute as well as branding issues that involve website and social media development. I have also assisted the Executive Director with board member recruitment and am working with the Office of Development on fundraising issues. My role within the Kabara Institute has allowed me to advocate for the importance of having an entrepreneurial mindset. I am passionate about disseminating this message to wider audiences both within our university environment but also outside. I enjoy both organizing and conducting speaker series and panel presentations, workshops, symposiums, conferences and providing outreach educational opportunities to entrepreneurial enthusiasts.
