  • Significantly increased first-time grant funding from new sources, in support of research and fellowship education programs, through professional contacts from within the private, nonprofit and global corporate industry sectors. • Developed and implemented strategies to launch a multi-community comprehensive membership campaign to grow regional awareness and support for LA BioMed. Within one year, this resulted in a 900% increase in membership – the highest level ever achieved for the Institute. • Coordinated all aspects of a major campaign kick-off event, contracting entertainment with a six-time Grammy award-winning musician, designing a theme-based, customized menu with a renowned chef, and securing a private, gated estate as the event venue. Guest attendance vastly surpassed all previous efforts and expectations, resulting in record-setting revenue growth. • Responsible for the largest single legacy gift in the fiscal year. • Worked with a team that produced the first black-tie fundraising event to raise over $1 million in the Institute’s history. • Managed Development Department staff, interns and projects; recruited new board committee members, staff and vendors.Founded in 1952, LA BioMed is one of the country's leading nonprofit independent biomedical research institutes. It has approximately 100 principal researchers conducting studies into improved treatments and cures for cancer, inherited diseases, infectious diseases, illnesses caused by environmental factors and more.
