  Undertaking marine biology lab research at the BAS research station in Rothera, Antarctica.Maintenance of aquarium tanks and holding invertebrate species as part of a trophic diet switch experiment. Monitoring the tanks and periodically sampling the animals and dissecting out tissue to be frozen for further analysis in Newcastle.Assisting with the Antarctic Skua monitoring programme and other marine biology research which included DNA extractions, PCR, identification and dissection of marine organism from various sampling techniques, CDT oceanographic sampling, and microscopic analysis.   • Managing Marine WFD projects, such as; Coquet Water Quality Project, Holy Island Water Quality Investigation, Greatham North Saltmarsh reclamation. • Project manager for Wear Estuary Project; identifying opportunities for ecological enhancement along the Wear Estuary.• Marine planning role - responding to planning applications relevant to WFD TraC waterbodies in the North East• Carry out ecological monitoring tasks including specialist fieldwork, the analysis of data, managing large databases and writing reports to provide evidence that informs the decision making of stakeholders.• Main responsibility is Holy Island/ Budle Bay Nutrient Enrichment project. Investigating freshwater inputs into the Lindisfarne NNR.• Aquatic monitoring services relating to freshwater and marine environments throughout the North East of England. Including surveys of TraC fish, Electo-fishing, invertebrates, hydrometry, water quality and temperature.• Carry out habitat surveys to EA standards including; Seagrass, Saltmarsh and Opportunistic Macroalgae surveys.• EA training courses include; Estuarine Geomorphology, Marine Fish ID, Working in Water – safety course.
