  Established in 1960, Wegman’s Nursery is a family-owned and operated garden nursery. Throughout the summer I lifted, planted, watered, fertilized, and trimmed to ensure my plants thrived. I learned their formal genus, species, and nicknames and I loved helping people find the right leafy companion.

  Summer internship with Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research (CIBSR). Researched the structure/function relationship between different variants of androgen and estrogen receptors. This research was done in the context of the organizational activational hypothesis, which states that steroid hormones permanently organize the nervous system during adolescence. CIBSR is dedicated to research that will improve the lives and well-being of individuals with disorders of the brain and improve knowledge of healthy brain and behavioral development. Show less

Determined function of Rmd9 in yeast mitoribosomal translation and small subunit assembly, working with a mentor from the Tri-Instituional PhD Program in Chemical Biology (TPCB). Gained experience generating and processing cryo-electron microscopy data. Presented final poster to graduate students, fellows, heads of lab.
