Dr. Salah Al-Najem received the WSIS Prizes 2019 Champion certificate from ITU Secretary General Mr. Houlin Zhao. The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) forum is held yearly by the International Telecommunication Union in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) And the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The project was selected by the WSIS Prizes jury committee this year among the top five projects in the category of "Local E-Content". These five projects received the largest number of votes during the voting period for the projects submitted to the prizes contest. The number of submitted votes reached more than 2 million votes submitted electronically by governmental organizations, private sector entities, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and individuals register with the ITU as WSIS Stakeholders. The five projects have been selected as champions according to the number of votes they received an according to the evaluation of jury committee.
