  My time at Guildhall was invaluable, this was because of the technical facilities on offer, and the professional visiting staff. The fact we had to spend time doing a show in every department of theatre, gave us an understanding of all the production disciplines and how to work as a team to put on a show.

  The Royal Albert Hall is a world-renowned, Grade 1 listed music and arts venue, it hosts over 350 shows a year. and operates 24 hours a day. Alongside technical preplanning of events and building development, I took the Hall from a small fixed lighting rig to where most of the equipment was sub-hired in for each show, to leaving it with a lamp stock of 300 lights that enabled the Hall to offer services from dry hire to full lighting design and implementation.I managed full time and casual staff to support the lighting service, as well as responsibility for the design and programming of a wide variety of events in the hall. from corporate, rock and pop, television, theatre, dance, classical, world music, and awards ceremonies. Lighting designs have included many artists, for example, Chess in concert, Jose Carreras, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Katherine Jenkins, Bryn Terfel, Idina Menzel, Cat Stephens, BB King, Joan Armatrading and The Mountbatten Festival of Music as well as orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the World Premier of the Armed Man by Carl Jenkins Show less Looked after all technical aspects of incoming shows in terms of venue power, rigging, and lighting. whilst supervising production lighting, sound, AV, OB for in-house shows and visiting companies and promoters.During this time The hall was undergoing a £70 million refurbishment so while the stage, lighting and power infrastructure , seating , load-in and backstage were all rebuilt we still managed to put on 300 different shows over 3 years during this time we worked with unusual rigging in the creation of the worlds first graphic based touch screen hoist controller Show less

  Massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines have been performing at London’s Royal Albert Hall with the aim of passing the profits from the shows on to Royal Navy and Royal Marines charitiesThe Festival sees the Royal Marines showcase their incredible musicianship and pageantry and features a wide range of musical styles, including music from the big screen and superb solo items, as well as the traditional marches and overtures that have proved such a hit with audiences over the years.My role As lighting and Video Designer established the look and feel of the event for the last 21 years my original brief was to make it less concert and more of a show, small steps each year working alongside the Bands Annual Producer and Production team.
