      Activities and Societies: Joined the GTC Whiles studying for my PGCE in Art & Design, I successfully completed 2 very different school placements. The first was at John Taylor school near Burton on Trent. I learnt valuable skills with regards to writing and delivering inspiring Art schemes of work ranging from key stage 3-5 and specifically how to support students to work creatively and achieve their full potential at GCSE Art & Design. My second school placement was at City of Leicester College. Here I learn valuable behaviour management skills and how to support students in 3D Design using ceramics as well as teaching and learning in BTEC Art and Design. During my studies I gained extensive knowledge about many different aspects of education including the National Curriculum, the independent learner and skills and techniques within art and design.       Activities and Societies: Whilst studying at the university of Wolverhampton I regularly played Volleyball and was part of the university mixed and women Volleyball team. I learned lots of creative and practical skills at the the university of Wolverhampton. I learnt how to manipulate and create both practical and artistic works using all different types of natural and man made woods, metals and plastics. I concentrated my studies and work on jewellery and fashion accessories combining different fabrics and metals together with strong influences from Africa and the Caribbean. I particularly enjoyed learning about the inspiring world of the 3D design movements… Show more I learned lots of creative and practical skills at the the university of Wolverhampton.       Whiles representing as a competitive swimmer myself from the age of 8, I worked with children aged 7-14, improving all aspects of stroke techniques and competitive swimming rues and skills, including, starts terns and relay racing. I was also a team Manager, for a girls 8-14 years ‘Diddy’ team. I was responsible for picking the team, getting girls ready for races as well as emotional support for both parents and swimmers.

      I worked as a part time pool Attendant & swimming teacher. I was responsible for teaching people of all ages and abilities to swim, improve their technique, confidants and gain ASA awards and badges. I taught public and school lessons. Whiles working for the council I was also enjoyed being a play scheme Leader. I worked along side other play scheme leaders to ensure the safely of the children aged 8-14 and the smooth running of the sporting activities including swimming. I was also solely responsible for leading a group of younger play scheme children aged 5-8, organising and leading sporting and arts and crafts activates. Show less

      During this post I taught Art & Design to all year groups from 7-11. I also taught dance to year’s 7-9 and supported in key stage 4 dance lessons, support small groups of students as well as one to one. I also taught resistant materials to key stage 3. I have organised 2 successful summer art schemes, working with a number of small groups of year 6 pupils, creating art about the Ancient Egyptians to support them with their numeracy and literacy one to one lessons. I run popular lunch time art clubs, where pupils entered a competition won prizes and got their art work published in a book. I lead whole year 7 art trips to the Sheffield Millennium and Graves galleries.I particularly enjoyed being a form tutor and the pastoral role. As a dyslexic teacher I initiated, set up and ran important one to one coaching support for Dyslexic students. I created and lead a 'Swim for your life' course, improving students general swimming skills and teaching basic life saving techniques. I also received a bursary and successfully coordinated a training programme for volunteer leaders and teachers within Leicester Complimentary Schools. I have attended many CPD courses in order to keep up with how I can best support all of my students. One course was an SEN & disability awareness training at Ashfield Academy. I have knowledge of current legislation relating to SEN and Disability (SEND.) I gained valuable class room experience with pupils with significant needs. I am familiar with assistive technologies and assessment of SEND including using the P scales. I had an introduction to Signalong a type of signing communication. I attended The 2012 Midlands Black & Ethnic Minority Teachers Conference, where I was able to keep up to date with the main issues in UK education for BME pupils and teachers. How to positively promote BME culture within the class room and the school. I received valuable CPD support as to how to positively move my own career forwards. Show less

      I was based at Braunstone leisure centre, at the swimming event. I was in charge of leading a small team of volunteers for all the swimming events, call the swimmers ensuring they were in the right place at the right time to compete in their race. I had to lease between and communicate with the swimmers their coaches and their families. I also had to make sure that the volunteers in my team were aware of the competitive swimming procedures and rules in order to be a successful team and everything ran smoothly. Show less

      I was lucky enough to be one of the volunteer at the 2012 Olympic games. I was based at the Aquatics centre, in the Olympic park. I was one of the Events Services team, who were known as 'The face of the games'. My role included being helpful and informative to all the different visitor to the Olympic games including, other volunteers, security staff, games officials, competitors, swimmers and their families, press, police, celebrates and even members of the royal family. I learn a lot whilst working along side other like minded volunteers including to recognise a few different counties flags. I am so proud to be able to be part of this world event, successfully joining the Olympics & Paralympics Games, helping to positively raise the profile of sport and disability. Show less
