  Retired after 36 successful years!I was the manager of the Estates, Liens & Trusts Unit which was responsible for the recoveries of monies back to the State of Maryland Medicaid Program.Estates - Duties consisted in overseeing a staff who was responsible for filing claims against estates of deceased Medicaid recipients who died with assets. The division filed timely claims against the estates to collect from any monies that passed through the estates in order to pay back any monies expended by the State of Maryland for their care. Liens - Duties consisted in overseeing staff to ensure liens were filed against the real properties of long term care residents so that when the property was sold, Medicaid received the proceeds of sale to pay back Medicaid costs. Special Needs Trusts - Duties consisted of overseeing staff to ensure that yearly fiduciary reports were received and that monies expended by trusts were consistent with what was allowed by COMAR regulations and ensuring repayment to the Medicaid Program upon termination of the trusts. Pooled Trusts and DRA Annuities - I was responsible to notify the trust companies and insurance companies the amount Medicaid expended on behalf of the Medicaid recipient to ensure pay back to the Medicaid program.As a state employee I received consistent promotions and outstanding performance evaluations for my dedication and work ethic.
